Court Remanded Former Commissioner in prison, in Kano State

Former Kano State Commissioner for Works and Construction, Muaz Magaji, has been remanded in custody by the 58th Magistrate’s Court, of Nomansland in Kano state.

The court charged Magaji, who is a prominent opponent of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje with four court charges.

The offenses include defamation, willful misconduct, lying with intent to defraud and harassment, offenses contrary to sections 392, 399 and 114 of the 1999 Kano Act.

Daily Nigerian Hausa reports that when the allegations were read out, he denied all of them.

Magaji’s lawyer, Gazzali Ahmad, later asked the court to grant him bail due to his current health conditions, but attorney, W. A. ​​Wada, criticized the plaintiff’s request, as a result of the lack of solid evidence that the defendant was in a state of serious illness to the extent of granting bail.

Judge Aminu Gabari adjourned the case to February 3 to decide on the possibility of granting bail to Magaji, popularity known as Dan Sarauniya.

Judge Gabari ordered that Magaji should be remanded in custody until February 3.
